Many American homes have General Tso’s Chicken on hand since it is a traditional Chinese-American meal. Even though it has the name of a renowned Chinese military commander and politician, General Tso Tsung-tang,
nobody knows where this dish came from. Claims of its invention in Taiwan and New York City have been made.
No matter where it originated from, General Tso’s Chicken—and especially this slow cooker version—has become a global favorite.
One of my favorite recipes from my childhood was General Tso’s Chicken. When I wanted to celebrate anything special, I would always ask for it.
But I often discovered that restaurant renditions were either too greasy or flavorful imbalanced.
Because of the health benefits and increased flavor compared to the old-fashioned deep-fried version, I’m sharing this slow cooker recipe with you.
Everyone in my family loves this dish, and I have no doubt that you will too.
My husband raves about this dish, saying it tastes even better than the restaurant version.
