Stuffed Cabbages Rolls

Stuffed cabbage rolls are a classic dish where cabbage leaves are filled with a savory mixture of ground meat, rice, and spices, then simmered in tomato sauce.

They’re a hearty, comforting meal enjoyed worldwide.

Stuffed Cabbages Rolls

Ingredients:


12 cabbage leaves


1 cup cooked rice


1/2 pound ground beef


1/2 pound ground pork


1 small onion, finely chopped


1 egg


2 cloves garlic, minced


2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped


1 teaspoon salt.


1/2 teaspoon black pepper


2 cups tomato sauce


1/2 cup water


2 tablespoons brown sugar


2 tablespoons lemon juice


2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce.


Directions:


Bring a large pot of water to boil.

Blanch the cabbage leaves for 2-3 minutes, or until soft.

Drain and set aside.


In a bowl, combine the cooked rice, ground beef, ground pork, onion, egg, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper.


Place a portion of the meat mixture in the center of each cabbage leaf.

Roll the leaf around the filling, tucking in the ends.


Place the rolls seam side down in a baking dish.


In a bowl, mix together the tomato sauce, water, brown sugar, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce.

Pour over the rolls.


Cover and bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 1 hour, or until the meat is cooked.
